Frequently Asked Questions

How does this work? Some frequently asked questions.

How do I know that you are qualified?

I am a registered member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherpy (BACP) BACP number 048007 and as such am bound by their ethical framework, which sets the standard for good practice. I also attend numerous Professional Development seminars and workshops every year and these generally tend to have a focus on Shame; Attachment; Dissociation; the Body and Trauma; Attachment Theories and working at relational depth. I am in regular supervision in line with BACP requirements.

How would you work with me?

Whilst my training was Humanistic covering Person Centred; Gestalt; Transactional Analysis; Solution Focused Brief Therapy amongst others, these theories form the backdrop to a relational approach that focuses on attuning to your needs. We will be working at your pace, collaboratively with empathy and humour.

How many sessions do I need and over what period of time?

Having met me you may have some idea if we can work together and we can look at what your therapeutic goals are. Some clients want and need only a few sessions, to work on specific areas and others may want to remain for longer periods. Our work is largely guided by you and our shared thoughts on where you feel you are at any given time. By building reviews into our work together I hope it will allow us to form a working partnership that will benefit whatever it is you want to bring. I work both in the short or longer term and there is never any pressure for you to remain in counselling should you not wish to do so. Also, taking a break and returning can work well for some clients, giving them the opportunity to reflect.

How much is this going to cost me and how do I pay?

I charge £65 per therapy hour (50 minutes). I offer a reduced fees for students and those on lower incomes.
Payment is taken at the beginning of the session either by cash, cheque or BACS into my account.
Fees apply if we cannot reschedule a cancellation that are with less than 48 hours notice.

I need somewhere local and accessible - where are you?

I work just around the corner from Putney Bridge station on the District line and am easily accessible for anyone living or working in Putney, Fulham, Chelsea, Kensington, Wandsworth or Earls Court.

I work and need to see someone out of office hours? Are you able to accommodate that?

My counselling hours are from 7.00am till 8pm. I am happy to schedule early morning appointments when they are available.
